There are many devices that will never seem dangerous to us and we will never think that they might take away our energy.
Among them are (DVR) and (Set Top Box).
These seemingly innocent devices consume more energy than refrigerators.In the United States, it has been estimated that the 160 million digital video recorders they have now use more than $3 billion in electricity annually, which is equivalent to the power of 9 500 MW power plants.
That’s more energy than the state of Maryland uses in 12 months.
The worst part is that some of that energy is used when the devices are turned off. In fact, these devices never turn off completely, that is, the device is not in “OFF” mode.
