Stories of animal loyalty abound but rarely do we see a human give his life for his pet. It’s no secret that breathing is the most precious thing anyone can have, but when it comes to saving a loved one, there are many things that come into play and give the person the necessary courage to jump into the most risky situations.
This situation was experienced by a man in Valparaiso (Chile), who recently died while trying to rescue his beloved puppy.
Without a doubt the greatest demonstration of love that one can have.
What seemed to be a day of entertainment and distraction on a beach in Algarrobo Norte ended with a regrettable outcome. According to the Investigation Police (PDI), the man in question was walking along the beach on Thursday, July 1 in the company of his pet when the misfortune happened.
This family was walking along the shore while the little dog jumped into the sea to wet his paws and was swept away by a wave. When he saw his dog being dragged towards the depth, the subject did not hesitate for a second and jumped into the water to save him.
In a matter of seconds, happiness turned into tragedy.
Apparently the owner managed to hold the dog at some point, but when he was going back to the shore he was dragged back into the sea. The pet was able to survive the incident and return to the arms of his family but not his owner, whose body was rescued by the Navy.
Although the paramedics tried to revive him, giving him the appropriate first aid, it was already too late. The death was decreed at the Padre Orellana Family Health Center (Cesfam), in Algarrobo.
This place will be etched in the minds of the affected family.
Angelo De Berti, head of the homicide squad of the San Antonio Police Department, gave statements regarding this tragic accident.
“It was ruled out that there were injuries attributable to third parties and it was established that the circumstances in which the man entered the sea was because he tried to save his pet that entered the sea and was dragged by the current,” the officer stated.
Although this is not the first time that a person has risked their life to protect or save their pet, these types of heroic acts never cease to surprise us because: while some simply mistreat animals or are negligent in terms of their care, there are other people who give everything to know them happy.
