A German shepherd in cardiac arrest saved by the mouth-to-muzzle resuscitation of a firefighter

Firefighters put their lives at risk to save others, and not only humans, but also animals. These brave men and women do not hesitate to face danger, every day to save lives.

This is also the case of Cristián Espinoza from San Antonio, Chile. When a house in San Antonio, Chile, caught fire, firefighters and rescue teams responded quickly.

While the humans inside were safely evacuated, two dogs were suffering from cardiac arrest and firefighters immediately began administering CPR.

Apolo and Princesa, two beautiful German shepherds, were inside the house when the fire broke out. When they were finally removed, one of them was almost dead.

That’s when the firefighter Cristián Espinoza intervened. He gave the dog mouth to muzzle in order to make him breathe again.

Apollo and Princesa were both revived thanks to the efforts of their rescuers.

According to Soy Chile, the dogs are resting comfortably with the neighbors while the family gets back on its feet. The video captured the dramatic moments after the dogs were pulled out of the fire.

CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) preserves brain functions until blood circulation and breathing can be restored.

Signs that indicate the need for CPR include unconsciousness, lack of wakefulness, lack of physical movement or blinking.

These symptoms can occur as a result of drowning, suffocation, electric shock or a number of other situations.
