Our tale today is about two unusual twins who were born in 2016, however their delivery did not go as planned.
Abby and Erin are the names of the siblings. Babies measured 900 grams after birth and were delivered 10 weeks early than predicted.
They had one major issue: they both had merged brains, and the physicians had no idea what to do since it wasn’t anything they had seen before.

Parents, obviously, did not want to abandon their children after discovering the truth, but made plans to deal with this problem in advance.
They wanted to support the girls in every way they could so that they may live complete lives.

The girls were 11 months old when the physicians opted on a risky operation; they made no assurances because there was an obvious risk that one of the sisters might die during the procedure…
They were all aware of the dangers they were putting themselves in!

But, thankfully, the girls were able to endure the 11-hour procedure and are doing well.
They just turned four years old and enjoy a full lifestyle, just like any other girl their time.
The girls’ mom is incredibly pleased of the physicians’ efforts and considers them to be true heroes!
And the girls are fantastic for finally passing such a difficult test in their life.

Physicians are likewise pleased with their jobs and regularly monitor their progress.
By the way, this was the first time in medical history that twins were split at such a young age.
Erin’s skull was less injured, therefore she faired better than Abby, who was at danger of infections and bleeding for some time.
Before the procedure, the physicians informed the family of the hazard. To expand the skin on newborns’ skulls, they put special balls into their skulls.

They were hesitant to act recklessly, yet they put forth a lot of effort while operating on youngsters!
To ease tension, the girls were quickly placed in an induced coma following the surgery.
Both are presently having treatment to repair brain functions that did not arise during that period.
They will have more treatments and tests in the following years to repair damaged bones and reconstruct their skulls.

Parents who are pleased that the girls are thankful to the physicians for allowing their children to grow up alongside them.
And they really hope that they will have the joyful and great lives they merit after such adversity.
