The lioness saw a lost little antelope: instead of hunting, she took it back to the herd

In the middle of the savannah, a lioness noticed an easy prey in the form of a small lost antelope. Local guides watched what was happening and were surprised by the unusual turn of events. Instead of hunting the antelope, the lioness decided to return it back to the herd. In the video, it can be seen as if a predator is teaching a small antelope not to stray far from adult individuals.

This unusual incident was captured by guides in the National park in Tanzania. At first, people paused to film the usual lioness hunting. They saw the antelope foal come out of the thicket and head towards the predator. The little colt was so inexperienced that he was not afraid of the smell of a lion. He came close to the confused lioness, and they both stood for a while trying to figure out what to do next.

Lions are typical predators, feeding mainly on meat, and usually do not show doubts when it comes to prey. However, in this case, it is possible that this lioness successfully hunted recently and was not hungry. Animal rights activists admit that the maternal instinct prevailed over the hunting instinct in this situation. They also note that a few years ago another lioness in the same park took an antelope foal under her protection, so such cases are no exception.

Eventually, the lioness took the foal closer to the herd and left. The foal was lucky, because the lion would have acted differently in a normal situation.
