In the Netherlands a goose was found flying upside down

The photos of this goose have caused a heated debate on social networks. No one could figure out what the bird was actually doing. They were photographed by Vincent Gornelissen who couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the goose flying in a strange way in the sky.

Vincent barely had time to film what was happening on camera, then posted the photo on social media. These photos have been attracting everyone’s attention for a long time now, and active discussions were taking place in different places.

Gornelissen has received thousands of messages from strangers around the world with their own versions of what happened in the photo. But none of them knew exactly why the goose was flying on his back.

Lars Soerink, expert from the Dutch Society for the Protection of Birds, wildlife photographer and science presenter, was also present at the discussions.

He said when geese learn to fly they think about what they can do in the air and that is normal behavior for them. Learning to fly is used to study the behavior of wild birds. For a short time, they can turn their body 180 degrees, leaving their head in a natural position.

This movement resembles the trajectory of a dry leaf falling. You can see such flight not only in geese, but also in many other birds.

However, the photos taken by the artist were very useful for the scientific community and were used in the same universities to explain the laws to the students.
