This chinpanzee lives at the Royal Zoo in Burgers, the Netherlands. He is quite old and suffers from a serious and painful illness. He has lived here for a long time and he is now fifty-nine years old.
He was found by biologist Jan van Hooff and their friendship lasted for decades.
A video has been released on the Internet where he sighs that he knows his mother and shouts with joy. The sick animal only smiles and hugs its beloved owner. His reaction was very moving and heartbreaking.
