We are champions to our puppies. They adore us and believe we can do no wrong in their sight.
That is a significant amount of responsibility, and it is critical that we do not abuse the confidence they have placed in us.
Sadly, there are many who would gladly violate that confidence.
Like Athena’s old family, who deserted her when she really required them.
Athena is a gentle, friendly puppy who has spent the majority of her life in Nikolaevka, with her family.
She adored her family and believed they adored her as well.
Unfortunately, she found one terrible day how little they appreciated her affection and her life.
Athena had matured into a senior doggie after being a dedicated friend to her family for so many years, and she was eager to spend her glory days the same way she’d spent her youth: by caring after her family.
Sadly, her family had other plans. When Athena’s family decided to relocate, they did not take Athena with them.
They believed she was too elderly, so they just left her alone like she was a shattered furniture piece or some worthless object.
Athena was devastated and terrified. She was completely alone, and they had left her with a hefty chain around her neck to compound things worse.
She stood by the side of the street, her head down, staring at oncoming automobiles, and clearly inconsolable.
Fortunately, word of the vulnerable elderly canine found Laurica Nagel, a local dog rescue worker.
Nagel went to the pup’s aid and saw her lying even by road’s side with her head drooping and her eyes full with grief and fear.
Nagel learned that Athena had survived on leftovers donated by kind truckers, but the elderly lady was feeble, hungry, covered with fleas and lice, and had lost track in one eye.
Nagel took her to a rescue center, where she got the necessary care.
She was cleansed, fed, and medicated, and she got all the love and attention she deserved.
Despite the fact that her physical condition was healing, the rescue staff was concerned that they would not be able to locate her a permanent home.
People are less concerned about older animals and more engaged in pups, making it challenging for senior pets to find new homes.
But She struck gold. When a family saw her on social networks, they felt she was intended to be a part of their family.
They were extremely proud of her for being a warrior and enduring all of life’s adversities.
They didn’t regard her as elderly and worthless like her prior family did.
No, they recognized her for what she was: a wonderful elderly dog with a huge heart and a strong personality.
She has now been residing with her parents over several months and is joyful than she has ever been.
Eventually, she has a household who genuinely cares about her and will ensure that the remainder of her life is pleasant and full of love.
Many people have been moved by Athena’s tale, and she has received a great deal of love and encouragement.
