Haley was heading toward her home in Davidson County, when her doggie, Arlo, sprung into action to rescue her.
What she didn’t notice was the presence of a deadly copperhead snake in the area beside the steps.
Arlo ran at the creature as it flinched back, ready to strike, and grasped its tail, swinging it back and forth.
Arlo destroyed the snake and rescued his human, although he was bitten three or four times in the face.
He was brought to BluePearl Vet Clinic in Nashville by his mum where he was treated anti-venom, pain medicine, and CBD oil.
His face and neck were bloated, and his eye was nearly totally swelled closed, but he is recuperating and will be OK.
“It’s incredibly remarkable to realize how much dedication and affection he had for me, to sacrifice his own life for mine,” She informed WTVF.
“We’re both fortunate to have each other. Unfortunately, he was not the only doggie at BluePearl Vet Clinic that day that had been bitten by a snake.
Based on the vet clinic, they’ve already handled over a hundred snake bite patients in their region this summer.
She hopes that his tale will educate others about the hazards of snakes, not just to people but also to doggies.
