“Dude, I’m not going to give you up to anyone”: a senior citizen took in a street dog and found joy

Last April was cloudy and chilly. On a wet day, a dog emerged in our backyard.

The infant was abandoned in the backyard in a carton. He was drenched in sweat and trembling from the cold.

I felt bad for the tiny fellow, but all I could do was feed him something.

My daughter and 4-month-old grandson came to see me. And the strange dog was not the greatest neighborhood.

An elderly neighbor volunteered to accept the doggie and built up a warm spot for him in the barn for us.

We arranged with the neighbor that the dog would spend a week with him.

Then we’d go into town and drop the doggie off at a sanctuary across the street.

We returned a week later to retrieve the dog, but the guy refused to return him.

The solitary retiree felt so attached to the creature during this period that he chose to keep it.

Such a change of circumstances made me quite delighted. The dog now has a house, and our neighbor is no longer alone.

The elderly gentleman and the doggie immediately became fast friends. Dick was the name of the doggie.

Soon after, a solid pup cage the size of a pair of adult dogs emerged in a neighbor’s backyard.

Dick reacted to his owner’s attention with unselfish affection. The senior was constantly followed by his dog.

They strolled together to the shop. Dick would constantly sit on the veranda, staring at the door as if he hadn’t seen his lover in a long time, waiting for the guy to complete his shopping.
