In social networks we usually find very good news, and it is that many people around the world are in charge of making life better for the neediest beings.
And it is that, regardless of the circumstances, the whole world is able to unite to help those who need it. As is the case with natural disasters that can affect thousands of lives. A clear example was Hurricane Harvey that occurred in 2017, in the United States.

By that time, Harvey had become one of the most intense hurricanes to reach the country causing great material and human destruction; however, the animal lives that this devastating hurricane took and the thousands of furry friends who were affected by it were rarely taken into account.
Although they seemed to be forgotten, there are always good people who made the decision to safeguard the lives of animals that were at risk before the hurricane. Many organizations participated in the preventive rescue of animals, but not all of them could be rescued, being defenseless before Harvey.

After the hurricane passed, many animals were victims of it, and others were left alone and in the open. Orphaned animals used to accompany the deceased body of their mother, hoping that she would wake up again; unfortunately, it would never happen.
But in the face of the terrible events, hope was regained when the small animals were rescued to provide medical and emotional assistance. This is how the story of a little calf that was found next to its mother by a couple of rescuers began.

The rescuer did not know what she could do with a cow calf and commented to her brother Nick, since he and his husband have a large backyard, and Nick thought it was a great idea to house the calf.
Nick called La becerra Harvey, the same name given to the hurricane that wiped out everything he knew. In that way, the vaquita came to the family that would open the doors of her house and her heart, especially that of the smallest member of the family who would become her best friend.

Wyatt, Nick’s son, became the adventure companion of a little calf that tripled in size, but was always there to accompany him on his walks, giving him affection and even serving as a bed for the baby.
However, this peculiar friendship would not stay together forever because as time passed Harvey grew a lot, which limited his walks. So Nick and her husband were inspired and created a special farm for animals that find themselves in difficult moments such as abandonment.

The two founded Wyatt’s Second Chance Ranch, to find new friends like Harvey. And their mission is to rehabilitate the animals and then place them in a permanent home. You can donate to their cause here.
Fortunately, they soon found the perfect sanctuary for many of their animals, including Harvey, the Austin Farm Sanctuary, a spacious place, with many farm animals, destined to have a healthy and fun life. In addition, a little 2-year-old vaquita, named Rosie, who would be Harvey’s companion, had just arrived at the sanctuary.

The family decided to move Harvey to the animal sanctuary, but it was a very sad episode for everyone to say goodbye; in fact, Harvey cried when he noticed that his family would be leaving. However, her life in the sanctuary goes on normally and she also receives visits from her family frequently, which makes her very happy.
Harvey has proved that the bonds of love and friendship happen at any time in our life, even in the most difficult times. This little calf and her friends managed to captivate social networks with the photographs of their adventures.
