A mother will never know how to thank enough if when she needs it most, they offer her a helping hand to save what she loves the most.
Magnolia was found wandering the streets of Fredericksburg, Texas.
I was lonely and very pregnant
Fortunately, a good Samaritan rescued her and took her to Hill Country SPCA, where they quickly got her a foster home.
Aubrey Morgan, the woman who took her in, soon realized that Maggie, as he affectionately nicknamed her, would become a wonderful mother. But I was really very nervous because I knew very little about dog births. But then he knew that he had to prepare as best as possible to receive the puppies.
“I watched dozens of YouTube videos about childbirth and gathered hundreds of dollars worth of birthing and emergency supplies to have on hand,” Morgan said.
In the midst of her research, the woman discovered the importance of puppies being kept warm at birth. But he never imagined that the moment of Maggie’s birth would coincide with the worst snowfall in history in Texas, and that made everything much more difficult.
Unfortunately, minutes before Maggie went into labor, their power was cut off. At midnight on February 16, they celebrated the arrival of their first baby, but the light was not coming back and the house was freezing, they seriously feared for their lives and for that of the other unborn babies.
As each puppy was born, Aubrey’s entire family did everything they could to keep them as warm as possible, but nothing seemed to work and it took a lot for the little ones to warm up.
That day the extreme temperatures reached -13 °
When the fourth baby was born, they decided to intervene and her husband came up with the great idea of starting the car engine to warm it up. There Maggie gave birth to her last 3 babies.
“We stayed there for about 12 hours,” Aubrey said..
The woman had promised Maggie to support her, take care of her and guarantee that together they would bring their little ones into the world, and they would be safe. And she couldn’t let her down, so even though they were in very difficult circumstances for everyone, she would do anything to help her.
Although they tried to heat the home with a radiator, nothing seemed enough. Even Audrey’s children shivered from the cold, and even more so the puppies. Maggie, on the other hand, struggled to snuggle and protect them, she never stopped watching over her little ones, but at the same time she looked at Audrey as if begging for help.
It was then that they made the decision to leave home and seek shelter at their parents’ house.
“So we traveled with our family of four, our three dogs, mom and her seven puppies for 45 minutes to my parents’ house and stayed there until Friday.”
Maggie couldn’t be happier that her 7 puppies have thrived thanks to the help of their amazing foster mom.
Finally, the energy returned home, and they all came back together to continue supporting the new mother.
They baptized the little ones as Daisy, Poppy, Ash, Rosie, Dahlia, Clover and Aster.
“Maggie is extremely affectionate, not only with her puppies, but also with my 2-year-old and 9-month-old son… It has been amazing to watch her become a mom. She is a madrassa,” Audrey said.
Maggie and her babies will be available for adoption through Hill Country SPCA in April. Until then, your wonderful host family will continue to watch over the mother and the little ones so that they grow up healthy, strong and happy. “She is truly an amazing mom… We will miss having her around when she gets her forever home,” Audrey concluded.
