Everyone who has a grandmother or a deceased person in the family knows how difficult it can be to face her sensitive departure, especially when it is recent.
There is nothing that can alleviate the pain, however some try to find comfort as they can.
This is what happened to the family of Dorothy Booth, a sweet grandmother from Virginia, in the United States, who passed away peacefully at the age of 97, leaving a great void in everyone who knew her.
The deceased grandmother made them a sweet promise before leaving

Due to Dorothy’s advanced age, months before the Lord called her to his presence, her daughters Debbie and Jeanne, curiously had dared to make the most peculiar request:
“Hey, when you get to heaven, see if you can send us a sign that you’re there and that you’re happy.”
To which the old woman with the utmost naturalness, aware that her departure might be imminent, said to them: “I’ll see what I can do!».
Then her daughter and niece made it easier for her: “Send a cardinal!». They told her, because in fact, it was Dorothy’s favorite animal.
But, what they overlooked is that certainly, the grandmother was the most faithful follower of her promises. And, without imagining it, they witnessed a real miracle.
The family needed to be together to accompany each other in grief and the day after the funeral they were playing cards in honor of grandma, as it was her favorite pastime. When suddenly, they heard a peculiar noise at the window.
“My father-in-law came out and saw that he was a cardinal. He was sitting there, completely alert and calm, he was able to approach him, pet him and bring him home,” said Debbie’s daughter-in-law, Angela Patteson.
“Oh my God, it really happened!Debbie and Jeanne said, not being able to believe what they were seeing.
Every second with the bird, Dorothy’s whole family felt that it was like an answered prayer.
And, although what they were experiencing was already like having a few seconds of heaven, they had not yet witnessed the real miracle.
They told themselves that the best thing without a doubt was to free the beautiful red cardinal and resolved to it, they put him in Debbie’s hand to let him fly.
They did not expect the creature to have such a behavior
But incredibly, the free-natured cardinal was not ready to leave the family so quickly.
As soon as he was released, he returned with the same impetus to perch on Debbie’s shoulder as if he wanted to comfort her in her pain.

Clearly, they were witnessing something never seen before. Debbie was totally stunned to see how the adorable little animal came back on her lap as if he wanted to stay with them forever.
Until after a good time, almost 10 minutes later, they managed to rest him on a branch from where he took flight.
For Debbie and Jeanne, this was undoubtedly Grandma’s response to their request. Although for many others it may be something random, for them it is not.
“They were sure that it came from God, that this has happened has been very comforting. It has really helped my mother-in-law and her sister. This was definitely an answer to their prayers,” Debbie’s daughter-in-law concluded.
