No one wanted the elderly dog evicted from a shelter until a woman took a chance
After suffering a life full of decadence and loneliness, an older dog has finally found the home he had longed for as a child and all thanks to a woman with a heart of gold.
The story of Bear, a German shepherd mongrel is quite touching. The dog had spent almost all his life on the street and his years no longer allowed him to move on alone.

When the hound was found he was in a state that broke everyone’s hearts. Her sad and hopeless little eyes were the portal to a painful past, which was also evident in her poor skin all cracked and reddened.
Bear suffered from a terrible dermatitis.
Since he was a rather fearful furry, the demure chose to send Bear to a temporary home, but it turned out that the experience was not entirely positive for him.
Although he had the best intentions, his handler had no experience in the care of elderly canines and Bear went through a crisis before managing to adapt to that place.
That temporary home was a failure and the volunteers sought to relocate him with someone who was truly reliable.
At that moment a veteran in this type of cases appeared in the puppy’s life. The woman had previously collaborated at the Houston shelter and they were the ones who were handling the hairy man’s case.
“They [the shelter] know that my weakness is older dogs. The least I can do is give these helpless beings a soft place to sleep, food and love. Reciprocally, they give me their affection and give a different meaning to my life,” said Bear’s new mommy.
The day the Samaritan woman welcomed the little dog, she decided it was time for him to leave everything behind and that also implied his name. For that reason, the dog was renamed from Bear to Norman, although he has not even found out.
“Norman is almost deaf, so he doesn’t really know I changed his name,” his new mom pointed out.
Since he was taken off the streets, the puppy has taken many steps to change his life in a positive way and, although there were some stumbles with his first foster home, now his transformation is remarkable.
Norman has said goodbye to his skin problems and sports a shiny and well-groomed coat. But, in addition, now the puppy feels more confidence towards humans for all the attention he has received since he arrived at the shelter and now with his new human.
Although with 16 years of illness and many painful memories the furry does not have much energy to play, the truth is that at a slow pace he shows how happy he is and for this he always beats his little tail.
He also turned out to be a spoiled and sleepy furry.
The new caretaker of the puppy is grateful to have found him and to be her to have the honor of taking care of him in her little house.
“Norman has taught me a lot… I hope everyone can experience the love of an older dog. I love my Norman/Bear.”
Norman’s mother is very happy to have found him and encourages the public to become responsible for an older dog, she knows how difficult it is for shelters to find people who want to help them.
“Finding someone who wants to go into foster care is extremely difficult for shelters, but I try to see the positive and I know I’m doing everything I can,” she added.
