The benefits that the presence of a dog in the home brings are innumerable. The company of a furry improves the quality of life of every human being, preserves physical and mental balance, and decreases depression in general.
But in children, it plays an even more important role because they contribute to educational and social development, becoming those accomplices and great heroes that the little ones need when they are in trouble.
Dog makes sure the child is safe after walking almost a kilometer away from home.

This is the story of Alejandro, an adorable German Shepherd puppy who took it upon himself to keep a child safe when he left home without his mother noticing.
It all started, when five-year-old Jose and his mother were napping. When the mother woke up, she noticed that her son was nowhere to be found. Apparently, the child came out while his mother was sleeping.
In the midst of despair, the mother alerted the authorities who quickly began the rescue mission.
Fortunately, little Jose, who has Down syndrome, was not alone. His little dog went out with him and did not leave him alone at any time.
Shortly after the alert of the child’s disappearance was generated, Sergeant Salas, of the Houston Police Department, heard news that a child was wandering along the train tracks and took action. In this regard, Salas commented:
“This morning we received several 911 calls from a five-year-old boy walking along the train tracks with a dog.
When I arrived, I carried the child and tried to ask him questions. I realized I had Down syndrome””
The officer stressed that after asking the boy several questions, he put him in the patrol car and turned on the air conditioner.
While trying to converse with the boy trying to understand where his house was and how he had ended up on the street, the little dog always stayed by his side following his every step. It was as if he wanted to make it clear that he was not alone. Salas commented on this:
“This dog was her protector and her angel. The dog did not take his eyes off the boy. It was beautiful to see this little animal so loyal””

In less than thirty minutes, Salas received a 911 call informing him that a mother had reported her son missing. Fortunately, little Joseph was the boy they were looking for.
“We called the Houston Fire Department to come check on the boy and try to guess who followed him. Obviously, the German shepherd did it.”
Soon the police realized that the boy and the puppy had walked about a kilometer from their house to the place where they were seen for the first time since the disappearance was reported.
The authorities could not help but be surprised by the behavior of the puppy, he knew that something was wrong and decided to follow the child and protect him at all times.
“It seems to us that the dog knew that something was going on, he knew that the child was not supposed to be wandering and ended up following him,” Salas said.
Fortunately, the boy was healthy and saved, after a long walk and minutes of tension for his mother, he was able to reunite with his family.
The sister of José, commented that the puppy has always been very protective of the child so it was not surprising that he followed him all the time.
The police did not file charges against the mother, but we are sure she will make sure to put protective locks to prevent something like this from happening again.
Little Joseph has the best guardian angel. We are glad to hear that he returned home completely healthy in the company of that hero that everyone needs to have.
