69-year-old Johnny, whose condition worsened due to illness, was taken to the Veterans Hospital under the supervision of medical staff.
His only companion was the dog Patch, and he was always worried about his friend. What will happen to him when he leaves?

While John was in the hospital, the dog was taken care of by the US Animal Welfare Association.
Association spokesman Adam Ritchie explained that it was normal for dogs to treat sick dogs, but that it was a special situation because John didn’t have time. And he knew it.

John’s illness was inevitable, and they did everything to fulfill his wish.
John’s eyes lit up as he saw Patch appear. They were both very happy to be reunited!

John hugged him and caressed him with all his love, whispering words of love to him.
“Yes, it’s me, I’m your father, are you glad to see me? And I’m very glad to see you,” John said to his beloved dog.

He licked his face and neck. They had the opportunity to say goodbye, and they took it.
It was a very happy but sad moment. Everyone assured Johnny that Patch would have a happy home.

As soon as this story appeared on Facebook, many people wanted to accept it.
Robert Candelaria, also a Navy veteran, helped with the animal shelter. After hearing John’s story, he wanted to adopt a dog.

“I promised Patch that he would not spend a day at the orphanage,” Robert said. Now his beloved dog Johnny has a new family.
Robert visited John in the hospital every day. He made it to the end!

Patch is now happily living in his new home: Robert says he has already adjusted well to his family.
John left us… Until his last days were spent with another veteran, he liked to visit the dog, it was his last wish, he was calm, knowing that his pet would be in good hands.
